This past week, Los Dells announced their lineup for their third annual festival in Mauston, Wisconsin. Diverse in genre, the artists in the Los Dells 2019 lineup continue the welcoming stance of the festival by hosting artists that appeal to different musical interests, age groups, and nationalities. Let’s dive into the headliners!

Headliners

There are four headliners for this year’s festival, the same number as the 2018 lineup. Comparatively, the makeup of these main stage performers is slightly different from that of last year (Bad Bunny, Flo Rida, Wisin y Yandel, and Banda MS).

For one, the only rapper left is someone who doesn’t make Latin music: Logic. The last-minute substitution of Cardi B for Flo Rida was a bit of a surprise in the 2018 lineup, but the formula seems to have stuck in the booking process. Logic’s prolific rap career has come to a head in his recent collaboration with Eminem, “Homicide”, and is sure to be an artist worth seeing.

Beside Logic’s name in the lineup is Ozuna, the Latin Pop and Reggaeton superstar certain to bring crowds to the festival. In fact, in an impromptu questionnaire by festival employees last year, I overheard a festivalgoer responding to the question “Who do you want to see at Los Dells 2019?” with “Ozuna!”; it seems as though Los Dells has listened. Ozuna has been a prominent name in the Latin charts over the past few years, both as a solo artist and as a collaborator.

Replacing Banda MS as a headlining representative of Mexican Regional music for this year’s festival is El Fantasma. Having recently released El Circo, lead singer Alexander García and his group (Su Equipo Armado) are certain to attract an audience as immense as last year’s Banda MS inclusion.

A welcome surprise in this year’s lineup is Colombian Grammy-Award winning Carlos Vives, of “Fruta Fresca” and more recently, “La Bicicleta” fame. His performance is sure to be attended by Latin audiences both old and young.

Other artists

Many familiar names grace the remainder of the lineup side by side with new faces. Farruko is a strong figure in the Puerto Rican Reggaeton scene; his most recent of his strong appearances in the Reggaeton scene is on the “Calma” Remix. Another prominent Puerto Rican is Merengue star Elvis Crespo, best known for the 1998 hit “Suavemente”. Crespo is still putting out new music, even branching into EDM territory with “Baliar” and “Azukita”. Up-and-coming artist (and recent Premios Juventud On The Rise winner) Lunay, famous for “Soltera,” is also featured in this year’s lineup. Other Puerto Rican artists include rapper PJ Sin Suela, Electronic Pop duo Los Wálters, and Urban Pop duo Domino Saints.

Mexican artists are also represented in full force at Los Dells 2019. In Latin Rock and Pop worlds, Natalia Lafourcade joins Jesse & Joy, Ximena Sariñana, Comisario Pantera, Siddhartha, and Café Tacvba. Mexican Regional artists T3R Elemento, Banda Los Sebastianes, and Adriel Favela are sure to be anticipated performances for this year’s festival.

An intriguing inclusion for the lineup is Argentinian Latin Trap artist Duki. He sits in a category of his own, as the last Latin Trap star to appear at Los Dells was the 2018 headliner Bad Bunny. Other standout entries in the lineup include Chilean Reggae band Gondwana and Colombian Latin pop artist Sebastián Yatra.

Los Dells makes sure to include Latin music from North America as well. The Dominican-American king of Spanish remixes, Fuego, is scheduled to perform. New Jersey-based Ambar Lucid, a newer face in the music scene, will also make an appearance. Singer-Songwriter women Jessie Reyes, Kat Dahlia, and Kiana Ledé all appear in the lineup. American Latin-indie bands Inner Wave, Y La Bamba, and Salt Cathedral are also included alongside LA-based Bedroom Pop newbie, Katsù Oso.

This wide variety of artists is sure to provide something for everyone. For more information about the festival, please visit the Los Dells website or read my Los Dells 2018 Deep Dive.
